Term Definition
Cake When it comes to weddings, this is the focal point of the reception. What is a wedding without a cake?
Caterer One who provides the food for the wedding reception—and who may also provide the liquor and rental items.
Centerpiece Decorative flowers that grace the tables at the wedding reception. They may also be non-floral, for example, an arrangement of candles.
Ceremony That sacred time when a man is joined to a woman as husband and wife.
Champagne The traditional “bubbly” served with dinner so that guests can toast the bride’s and groom’s happiness.
Children Kids are included in weddings as flower girls, ring bearers, and as junior bridesmaids and groomsmen.
Chuppa The Jewish wedding canopy under which each Jewish man and woman marry.
Cocktail-Hors d’oeuvres Reception A wedding reception where only cocktails and hors d’oeuvres are served.
Cohabitation Living together before marriage. Cohabitation may be reason enough for some religions to deny a couple’s marriage.
Credit Cards That “insurance policy in your wallet”. No matter how much $$ you have, pay all vendors/venues with credit cards. They will protect you should the business go OUT of business.
