AAWP Terms and Conditions:

ATTENTION: PLEASE READ THESE TERMS COMPLETELY BEFORE USING THIS WEBSITE IN ANY WAY. USING THIS WEBSITE CONSTITUTES YOUR AGREEMENT WITH THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THESE TERMS ("TERMS"), DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE.

AAWP: General Information:

The American Academy of Wedding Professionals™ is a trade organization open only to wedding professionals of all specialties. AAWP offers its trade/business courses to our members only. The American Academy of Wedding Professionals™ for purposes of this Agreement may also be referred to as AAWP™.

AAWP is a well-known and respected organization and for that reason, there are conduct and character requirements for member participation. In qualifying for AAWP™ certifications, AAWP™ members agree to conduct themselves in a professional and positive manner at all times. It's strongly recommended that persons applying for membership furnish AAWP™ with three trade and/or personal references.

AAWP: Courses:

When purchasing/participating in the various professional training/business course programs offered by AAWP™, students are required to efficiently navigate the aa-wp.com website, login on subsequent visits using a specific username and password; download online books (PDF) using AAWP/File Open security; download and view videos; locate and take online quizzes, essays (if applicable), and final examinations, all within a strict, one-year time frame. The AAWP professional wedding-planning course and all other courses offered by AAWP are not transferable.

The AAWP™ Website and training/business courses are self-explanatory and students are required to follow the instructions without additional support or assistance. It is the sole responsibility of the purchaser/member to diligently study the courses and to complete the requirements for certification.

AAWP: Certifications:

Certification requires that all study and financial obligations are met. Once tuition is paid in full, and after the educational requirements are satisfied, the member will receive their Certificate of Achievement and cloisonné pin for AAWP’s professional, wedding-planning course. Members who complete the other, assorted AAWP courses, after meeting all educational and financial obligations, will receive a Certificate of Achievement. The printable version of the courses is only available to those who have passed the courses satisfactorily, received Certification, and paid their tuition in full.

To obtain AAWP™ Certifications, participant/purchaser agrees that they will complete said training/business courses, which includes completion of required online quizzes and/or essays (if applicable), and final examinations, within a one-year time frame. If the time frame expires without completion of the training/business course(s) as specified in this Agreement, the training /business course(s) must be re-purchased at prevailing prices. The training/business course fees must be paid in full whether or not the course is completed. Time is of the essence.

AAWP™ continually revises, updates and supplements its course offerings, allowing members in good standing to benefit from AAWP's continuing education. AAWP may ask certified members, in order to maintain their certification, to submit essays and to take online exams on supplemental and/or updated educational materials. AAWP membership is a pre-requisite of certification and membership must be maintained in order to use the title Certified or Certified American Academy Wedding Professional (CAAWP), or to maintain any Certificate of Achievement. If AAWP™ membership lapses, and/or is cancelled whether voluntarily or for non-payment of dues, or course payments, etc.; "certified" status will revert to "suspended" status, making the "Certificate of Achievement" and/or certification invalid. All member benefits will be suspended until membership in AAWP is reinstated, and suspended members agree to forfeit all benefits of AAWP including use of its logo, certifications, etc.

Members who enroll in AAWP training/business courses and pay for tuition in installments will be denied access to the printable version of the courses until tuition is paid in full. Likewise, "certifications" will be pending until tuitions are paid in full (no refunds or cancellations permitted).

AAWP: Code of Ethics:

Members and certified members agree to abide by the official AAWP™ Code of Ethics to preserve the integrity, reputation, recognition and perceived value of this highly respected trade organization. AAWP™ cannot endorse any member in whom we lack confidence or lacks the ability to: function professionally; competently; responsibly; ethically; or otherwise appropriately in their specific wedding profession; or to perform to the highest standards necessary when in the field; or to represent AAWP's™ name in good faith within the industry.

AAWP™ reserves the right to permanently withdraw membership, certification, or eligibility for certification from any member and/or student who is disruptive, uncooperative, disrespectful, or who otherwise demonstrates an attitude and/or conduct which, in the sole opinion of AAWP™, indicates a level of incompatibility and/or unsuitability for the role of a quality wedding professional; or who fails to meet the standards of performance and/or conduct of AAWP™ to qualify for AAWP™ certifications. AAWP™ reserves the right to withhold and/or withdraw certifications or membership at its sole discretion. Any member who is being withheld/ withdrawn from AAWP's™ training/business courses, certifications, and/or membership, will not be entitled to any refund whatsoever.

AAWP: User Relationships/Considerations/Permissions:

Although AAWP™ makes every effort to ensure the competency, honesty, integrity, and proper qualifications of its members, professionals, and certified professional
members, AAWP™ makes no guarantee to the public that any such person or company is qualified in a specific wedding profession. AAWP™ does not endorse or recommend any specific wedding professional; instead, the public is hereby advised to do its own due-diligence to investigate the value of any wedding vendor/professional before entering into a contractual obligation with same.

Any person registering on and/or using the AAWP™ Website in any way agrees that AAWP™ may share their names, contact information, addresses, wedding date, blogs, photos and any/or all information shared, submitted and/or given to AAWP etc. with any entity and/or organization and/or individual that AAWP™ chooses. Users of this website give AAWP permission to publish or reproduce any text, blogs, or any and all information and/or photos which are submitted, shared and/or given to AAWP, and gives AAWP permission to edit and/or alter any photos and/any or all information submitted, shared and/or given to AAWP. All information including text and/or photos submitted to AAWP for use on its website must contain the copyright of the submitter (if an AAWP member), and/or the copyright of the creator of the material/photos, along with their permission to use their materials and/or photos on the AAWP Website.

AAWP: “The Work”:

AAWP™ offers a variety of professional online training/business courses/videos; logos; business materials; brochures; sample contracts; print ads; website information; online books for persons/brides planning weddings/professionals in the wedding industry, etc. (hereinafter referred to collectively as the "Work").

The Work may contain information on legal topics related to wedding planning as a profession, and/or information on legal topics relating to a variety of other wedding vendor professions and topics. However, no warranty whatsoever is made by AAWP™ that any of the information contained within the Work is accurate or applicable in a given situation. There is absolutely no assurance that any statement contained in Work touching on legal matters is true, correct or precise. Law varies from place to place and it evolves over time, sometimes quite quickly. Even if a statement made about the law is accurate, it may only be accurate in the jurisdiction (place) of the person posting the information; as well, the law may have changed, been modified or overturned by subsequent developments since entries were made in the Work.

The legal information provided by AAWP to its members is, at best, of a general nature (offered for example only) and cannot substitute for the advice of a licensed professional i.e. by a competent authority with specialized knowledge who can apply it to the particular circumstances of your case. Please contact a local bar association, law society or similar association of jurists in your legal jurisdiction to obtain a referral to a competent legal professional if you do not have other means of contacting an attorney-at-law, lawyer, civil law notary, barrister, or solicitor.

Neither the individual contributors, system operators, developers, principals, owners, employees, or sponsors of AAWP™ materials nor anyone else connected to AAWP™ can take responsibility for the results or consequences of any attempt to use and/or adopt any of the information or disinformation presented in the Work. Nothing on aa-wp.com, and no part of the AAWP™ Work should be construed as an attempt to offer or render a legal opinion or otherwise engage in the practice of law.

None of the authors, contributors, sponsors, administrators, or anyone else connected with AAWP™, in any way whatsoever, can be responsible for your use of the Work. Likewise, AAWP™ is not responsible for information and/or products offered by Affiliate Sites linked from or to AAWP™ web pages. No consequential damages can be sought against AAWP™. Purchasers of AAWP Work, including memberships, hereby expressly agree that they use this information at their own risk, after having conducted their own assessment of its accuracy, safety, and appropriate application.

Special events always have surprises, unexpected circumstances, etc., therefore, no warranties are expressed or implied regarding the usability of the information provided by the Work. By purchasing AAWP Work including AAWP™ memberships, the purchaser agrees that the AAWP's™ liability in any dispute or legal action, or any other dispute/claim situation whatsoever, is strictly and completely limited to the refund of the funds paid to AAWP™ to purchase the particular item. Purchaser and/or AAWP™ Website users agree to indemnify AAWP™ and hold AAWP™ harmless in any and all claims and/or disputes arising from the purchase, and/or use, and/or distribution of AAWP™ Work, whether such disputes/claims are initiated by the purchaser, member, user and/or a third party. Any such indemnification shall include reimbursement to AAWP™ for all expenses incurred by AAWP™, including but not limited to: attorneys' fees; filing fees; court costs; interest; consequential damages, etc. The express terms contained herein can only be modified in writing, signed by both the Purchaser and an officer of AAWP™.

AAWP: Refund Policy/Payments:

Purchaser of any and/or all of AAWP’s Work agrees and acknowledges that all AAWP™ sales are final. Orders cannot be cancelled or changed. There will be no refunds; no credits or substitutions are permitted. In the case of collection action brought by AAWP™, and/or if this Agreement must be enforced against the Purchaser, Purchaser agrees to pay all expenses incurred by AAWP™, including but not limited to: attorneys' fees; filing fees; court costs; interest; consequential damages, etc.

AAWP accepts payments via credit card only. It is solely the member/ purchaser's obligation to keep credit-card billing information current by logging in and updating billing information from time to time, as required. AAWP does not accept or process payments by mail or any other means, and our non-acceptance of such payments shall not be deemed a waiver of our rights to collection or legal remedy as specified herein. Members/purchasers hereby grant AAWP permission and authorization to charge any previously used credit card for any payments due, outstanding past-due payments, future purchase charges, etc. AAWP reserves the right to lower monthly credit-card payments to a default billing rate at any time, without notice, and at our sole discretion.

While most AAWP™ Work must be paid in full at purchase, AAWP™ does offer several types of incremental payment options with the purchase of its professional training/business courses and/or memberships. By making the online purchase of AAWP™ Work and by providing AAWP™ with credit-card information, purchaser hereby authorizes AAWP™ to charge the credit card, as applicable, per the specific terms offered for that particular AAWP™ purchase. AAWP™ may charge credit cards now; next month; monthly; recurring in the future, etc., as per the specific payment/ purchase terms which are selected (or may apply) on the AAWP™ Website for that particular product until that Work is paid in full. Purchaser hereby agrees to make no attempt to dispute credit-card purchases and/or downloads of Work, which includes memberships, made on the AAWP™ Website.

AAWP: Memberships:

Professional Membership in AAWP is given for one year, free, with the purchase of any AAWP training/business courses, or AAWP Pro-memberships may be purchased separately. Professional AAWP Memberships* are annual and automatically renew on the date of expiration. Written notice is emailed two weeks prior to renewal giving members the opportunity to cancel and/or renew. If membership is not cancelled via this email, the membership will automatically renew. Auto-renewed professional memberships cannot be cancelled and will be billed to the credit card on file. Annual AAWP Professional Memberships may not be cancelled as long as course tuition is unpaid.

*Membership fees changed/increased: 10/2015. Any AAWP Professional Member who has a current membership at a lesser rate, will continue to pay the lesser rate until their membership renews at which time the current rates will apply.

It's the member's responsibility to click on one of the options in the courtesy, membership renewal email and then follow the instructions provided, thereby confirming their payment/cancellation preference. It is incumbent upon the member to notify AAWP of any contact information changes (address, phone, email, etc.). If member does not properly act on the courtesy email as described herein, for any reason whatsoever, the annual membership will renew automatically at the default rate of $62.25 per quarter. AAWP membership dues are subject to change without notice. Active AAWP Professional Membership must be maintained in order to have access to AAWP course materials, resources, downloads, quizzes, exams, and to maintain certifications, etc.

Membership Renewal: Option One: The renewal of membership at the discounted, pay-in-full rate of $199.00 (AAWP annual membership is $249).

Membership Renewal: Option Two: Pay for AAWP membership quarterly, $62.25.

When individuals enroll in the AAWP courses, they simultaneously join AAWP as a professional member, and/or if they join AAWP as a professional member, they have the option of formulating/creating an online profile representing their business and/or their products/services, which will go live on the “member profiles” segment of the AAWP site (called “The Inside View™). The initial listing will utilize their information, which was entered upon registration and/or creation of their profile. Members should login to the site at their convenience to update/edit their information, add photos, logo, text, etc., as desired. Members must edit/maintain their own profile information. AAWP personnel are not responsible for profile maintenance. Note that a member’s information may be picked up by Google and/or other search engines and appear randomly on the Internet. Therefore, it is the member’s responsibility to be guarded with what and how they post to their profiles.

AAWP™ does not represent or endorse the accuracy or reliability of any of the items; information; content; advertisements; products; services, etc., contained on, distributed through and/or linked, and/or downloaded or accessed from any of the AAWP™ member profiles and is not responsible for the quality of any products, information or other materials displayed, purchased, and/or obtained by Purchaser as a result of an advertisement and/or any other information or offer in connection with other linked member profiles and/or websites.

AAWP: Affiliate Program:

AAWP also offers an “affiliate” program to anyone who is willing to participate. AAWP will pay 40% (forty percent) of the retail cost of any AAWP training/business courses, as a commission, sold by an AAWP affiliate. Courses are either paid in full; or purchased on a payment plan by purchaser. All commissions will be paid to affiliates in U.S. dollars. (AAWP affiliate “cookies” are valid for 365 days.)

AAWP reserves the right to cancel any affiliate member for any reason. AAWP will not tolerate affiliates who engage in porn or in any nastiness, or in any and all information (placed on their websites and/or Social Media pages, etc.), deemed to be inappropriate by AAWP. Once an affiliate signs up for the program, AAWP will notify them within 24 hours (other than weekends) as to their acceptance within the program.

To become an AAWP affiliate, the individual and/or company must sign up with AAWP to become a “registered” member, which is a free benefit of AAWP.  Afterward, the affiliate is required to post AAWP courses, of their choice, for sale, on their Facebook and/or social media, and/or website pages (links are provided). The affiliate’s first course sold is AAWP’s requirement for membership in its affiliate program and is not counted as a sale. Afterward all commissions will be paid per the terms of this Agreement. All commissions will be paid monthly and only on monies collected from purchasers of AAWP courses, sold by the affiliate. Affiliate members realize that AAWP courses may at times be offered for sale by AAWP at discounted prices. Commissions paid on “sale” courses will reflect the cost of the courses sold at discounted prices.

Once the affiliate reaches the IRS requirement for AAWP to issue a 1099, the affiliate will be notified via email to login to the AAWP website to provide AAWP with all required government tax information, which may include an EIN number and/or social-security number.  Unless this information is provided to AAWP timely, within 10 (ten) days of email notification, the affiliate program will cancel for the affiliate member and no commissions will be due to that member.

Affiliate members outside the U.S., except for Hawaii and Alaska, and American protectorates, are responsible for providing AAWP with the means for delivering commission checks to that affiliate, which will incur no cost to AAWP; the cost, therefore, to receive AAWP commission checks is the sole responsibility of the affiliate. Additionally, this affiliate must notify AAWP in writing concerning their preference for the dispersement of commissions and method of delivery, which is the sole responsibility of the affiliate. All tax liabilities and requirements, if an affiliate member does not come under the jurisdiction of the United States, for whatever reason, is the sole responsibility of the affiliate. All commissions are paid in U.S. dollars.

AAWP: Copyright and More:

The AAWP™ Work is protected by copyright laws. Purchasers of AAWP business/ training courses are permitted to download them electronically, one time, to one computer, for specific use by one person (the Purchaser). Purchasers may print out the material for their own use once their tuition is paid in full. It is illegal to copy; share; email; distribute; sell; or otherwise make the Work available to others without the express, written permission of AAWP™.

Any of the trademarks; service marks; collective marks; design rights; personality rights; or similar rights that are mentioned, used or cited in the Work are the sole property of AAWP™. AAWP™ members in good standing may download and use the AAWP™ member logo on his/her business brochures; stationery; and website, etc. AAWP™ certified members in good standing may download and use the AAWP™ certified member logo in the same manner. AAWP™ certified members may also download other Work (business materials; brochures; print ads; sample client contracts, etc.) which may be utilized in their business operations. All members and certified members agree to use these materials at their own risk. Downloading and subsequent possession of these materials does not imply that they may be used for any purpose other than as stated herein. The materials may not be shared with others or distributed to non-AAWP™ members. If AAWP™ membership lapses and/or is not renewed, and/or is cancelled either voluntarily or in the case of non-payment of dues, etc.; all downloaded Work; certificates; logos; brochures; sample contracts, etc. must be destroyed/deleted by user and their use must be discontinued pending possible reinstatement of membership. AAWP reserves the right to, at its discretion, to renew memberships (at the rate of $249.00 per year) for former members who do not discontinue use of AAWP logos, certification, certificates, materials, etc. after their membership has lapsed.

The AAWP Work contains trade secrets, proprietary information, etc. If AAWP shares, distributes, or makes available the Work to colleges, universities, catering properties, etc. for their evaluation, the recipient hereby agrees to exercise absolute confidentiality (non-disclosure) regarding the materials. AAWP may seek to recover punitive damages if the Work is shared, distributed, or made available to its competitors or others without AAWP's express, written permission.

AAWP: Indemnification/General Provisions:

Purchaser and/or all users of the AAWP™ Website hereby indemnify AAWP™ and hold AAWP™ harmless for any losses they experience as a result of any members/purchasers non-performance; breach; theft; negligence; incompetence; order loss; non-fulfillment; consequential damages, etc.

Anyone using the Work or accessing the AAWP™ Website (including but not limited to: aspiring wedding professionals and/or planners; wedding professionals; and/or individual persons planning weddings; Website users; or others, etc.) hereby acknowledge that any reliance upon any Work and/or Products and/or information provided by the AAWP™ Website shall be at their sole risk. All users of the AAWP™ Website and/or Work hereby agree to be bound by all the terms and the various disclaimers contained within this Agreement. AAWP™ reserves the right, at its sole discretion, at any time whatsoever, and without any obligation or consequence, to make improvements; change; modify; update; substitute; remove; or correct any error or omissions in any portion of the Work, Products, AAWP™ Website, and/or this Agreement.

No person, company, or entity may contact AAWP members via the AAWP website for the purpose of solicitation (selling any product or service whatsoever) without the express, written permission of AAWP.

Any controversy (other than non-payment of funds due to AAWP by aspiring wedding planners, and/or other AAWP members) arising under this covenant shall be submitted to arbitration before the American Arbitration Association in the County of Palm Beach, Florida, in accordance with its rules, and judgment and award confirming the Arbitrator's decision may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction. However, AAWP’s sole liability in the event of any dispute adjudicated in the defendant’s favor will be no more than one-thousand dollars ($1,000.00).

In the event that AAWP is forced to initiate collection procedures against an AAWP member for non-payment and/or past-due accounts, AAWP reserves the right to accelerate the total amount due. AAWP will sue for the monies in a court of law. All costs of collection including but not limited to court costs, filing fees, attorneys fees, consequential damages, etc. and any and all other costs will be paid by the defendant. The venue is Palm Beach County, Florida.

American Academy of Wedding ProfessionalsT Privacy Policy for Members and Customers

AAWP believes in "Respect for the Individual." For that reason, we will collect and use personal information of customers and members only as follows: Personal information means information about you, which is, or can be, related to you as an individual.

We collect personal information to:

deliver the products and services you want;
    administer our businesses;
    develop and communicate special offers;
    provide customer service; and
    respond to legal process (such as subpoenas and warrants).

Information AAWP collects and how we collect it.
The information we collect may include:

contact information, identification numbers, account numbers, product preferences, and other information you provide when you do business with us online at one of our many websites, or sign up for certain services, such as a membership or course purchase, or personalized website account; technical information (such as your Internet Protocol address, your computer's operating system and browser type, and the address of a referring website, if any, and the path you take through our web pages) when you visit our websites.

When you visit our websites, we may place a "cookie," a small computer file, on your computer to help us recognize and serve you better when you return. You may delete this cookie from your computer. You may also set your Internet browser to reject cookies, however, doing so may limit the functionality of our websites.

How AAWP uses personal information.

We do not sell or rent personal information to others.
    We do not use cookies to track movements on websites other than our own.
    We do not disclose personal information to non-Affiliates except in the following situations:

when you request or give us permission to do so;
    when we use service providers and contractors (such as credit card issuers, check cashing bureaus, or data processors, mailing and fulfillment houses, customer service or research companies, etc.) for limited purposes to assist us in completing our transactions with you, maintaining or conducting our business, or doing customer research; when appropriate to prevent harm or injury (such as for product recalls, preventing fraud, or handling claims or other liabilities), or to comply with valid legal process and applicable laws.
    When we authorize select third parties to contact you, so that you may be considered about offers for goods and services that may be offered or endorsed by AAWP.
    We may share information with Affiliates for these same reasons and also to let you know about special offers, new products and services, and other great values, unless such sharing is prohibited by law. We may share with Affiliates and non-Affiliates statistical information that does not identify you individually.

AAWP takes reasonable steps to protect your personal information.

Personal information that we maintain is subject to physical, administrative, and technical controls. When we do have to collect your most sensitive personal information, such as Social Security Numbers, we will protect its confidentiality, prohibit its unlawful disclosure, and limit access to authorized personnel only.

International data.

International customers and members: If you provided information to us from a country other than the United States, your information may be transmitted to, and processed by us or our service providers in the United States or other countries other than your own. If you provided information from a country that grants specific additional privacy rights, contact us at the addresses listed below to exercise your rights.

Modifications to AAWP's privacy policies.
We reserve the right to change our privacy policies at any time, except as may be prohibited by law. We will post revisions online that we consider appropriate.
